Turkey as an Aphrodisiac?

Filed under: Food + Libations, Love + Relationships

turkeyDespite its place as the centerpiece of Thanksgiving meals, turkeys often get a bad wrap for the supposedly sleep inducing element caused by Tryptofan. While most experts believe that it is actually all that eating -- and possibly the stress of dealing with family, entertaining, and all the holiday madness -- that actually causes us to escape and hibernate after the big meal, it seems Tryptofan might be sending us to bed for a whole different reason.

Turkey and other lean meats which are rich in zinc encourage blood flow and are thought to boost your libido. Tryptofan is the added bonus because it produces serotonin, usually causing that blissful contentment experienced right after taking your last gravy drenched bite.
