Christmas Department StoreGirlfriends love to give their men lavish toiletries that promise a perfect shave, flawless skin, or a manly musk. But I tend to get so overwhelmed in the sea of lotions, colognes, and fancy shaving creams that I barely make it out of the department store before panicking over all the holiday themed choices or succumbing to suffocation due to overeager perfume spritzers.

A new website that may or may not have had me and other panic-prone shoppers in mind, can now tell socially conscious shoppers to put down that Bulgari aftershave (which was rated "terrible"!) and suggest the J.P. Durga aftershave (rated "excellent"!) instead. GoodGuide rates products based on how health friendly, environmentally friendly, and socially friendly they are. Those who employ underage elves in Santa-less countries get a low social rating while those with chemicals harmful to you or the environment get low health and environmental ratings.

You can visit GoodGuide's website to see all their ratings before you shop and you can even text them straight from the store with a product's name and to get an immediate reply with the product's rating. They will even suggest better products to choose instead.
So whether or not your metrosexual-in-training enjoys his presents as much as you enjoyed picking them out, you can at least know that if they sit untouched in the corner of his medicine cabinet, they will biodegrade without leaving a huge carbon footprint.
