alaska governor sarah palinSarah Palin just loves working a crowd. Last Tuesday she opened the doors of the Alaska Governor's Mansion, hosting 3,300 supporters, gawkers and cookie fiends at the annual Christmas open house.

Palin shook hands and posed for photos, making sure to say a special hello to the children, a.k.a. the guests least likely to ask any awkward questions about pardoning turkeys or geography.

The open house has been a tradition for 93 years. Fortunately the house even comes with a "residence manager" so Palin didn't have to get down and dirty with the catering, decorating or cleaning.

Speaking of catering, there were over 20,000 cookies at the event, including: raspberry and pecan tartlets, Russian teacakes, and dark chocolate almond roca. No word on whether the Russian teacakes were baked in Alaska or over in the "neighboring" country.

Sounds like it was a delightful time for everyone who attended!
