Sarah Palin just loves working a crowd. Last Tuesday she opened the doors of the Alaska Governor's Mansion, hosting 3,300 supporters, gawkers and cookie fiends at the annual Christmas open house. Palin shook hands and posed for photos, making sure to say a special hello to the children, a.k.a. the guests least likely to ask any awkward questions about pardoning turkeys or geography.
The open house has been a tradition for 93 years. Fortunately the house even comes with a "residence manager" so Palin didn't have to get down and dirty with the catering, decorating or cleaning.
Speaking of catering, there were over 20,000 cookies at the event, including: raspberry and pecan tartlets, Russian teacakes, and dark chocolate almond roca. No word on whether the Russian teacakes were baked in Alaska or over in the "neighboring" country.
Sounds like it was a delightful time for everyone who attended!

You are so right. Seems Governor Palin can't have a traditional open house for Christmas without being criticized. She is merely doing the right thing and does it well. By the way, Russian tea cakes are a traditional cookie in my house and have been for fifty years. They are also referred to as Mexican wedding cookies in some cookbooks. Governor Palin is an attractive charming gracious woman. She is a breath of fresh air in the jungle of politics.

She loves every minute of the publicity. Don't let her fool you. If only she had a brain to go with it. Kinda like Dorothory and the Wizard of Ozz. Except that Judy Garland was acting the part, had talent, movie became an epic, and America loves a happy ending. In the new revised version: It goes like this.....Palin as Dorthory wants to get to the White House.........but she is on the side of the Wicked Witch from Alaska-Russia..........The good people of the Rest of the United States, just the small town people don't understand Palin because she has hired her own team of $100.000 travel vans to take her everywhere and all her family included. She takes gifts from everyone to make her shine on the outside but she still squeeks and needs an oil can in order to move and walk .........everyone shouts her name......Sarah! but inside the White House, they are burning books about sex education, replacing the old president's paintings with Mooseheads and elk heads. What a change. Everyone wears boots and jeans to formal occations. But the funny thing is: the Lion is actually the Knowledgable one, says nothing till one day Palin with her caravan of cars comes up to the front door of the White House and says.........."I'll huff and I'll puff till your house gets blown down" ...........The Lion says, Mrs. Palin, you are reading the wrong book. Go back to Alaska and read about Dorthy............it will explain to you what you need to do and know. So, Palin returns to Alaska, shoots a few wolves and Moose for the skins to sell for gas in her automobile, and everyone is happy again........the moral of this story is: don't set your hopes too high before you have knowledge and experience to carry out the job. Palin, get some education if you can. It may help you and your kids.
