This is my mother's Pictionary depiction of "tip." Do you see the angst? The frustration? The despair?
Seems like you have to tip everyone these days, from the barista who talks for five minutes with coworkers before serving you your $3 coffee, to the movers you saw toss your box labeled "Dinnerware" onto the truck. The U.S. government actually taxes the tips they assume restaurant servers make -- meaning that if you don't tip your waitress, it cost her money to serve you. Yikes.
Financial times are tough, but you don't want to be a scrooge when it comes to the annual "holiday tipping." But just how much to do you tip, say, your mailman?

I couldn't afford to give my babysitter the full weeks pay this year, so i decided instead to give her something that she would enjoy... she loves to cook and I found this great cookbook called "GET IN THE KITCHEN, BIT@HES!" (bitchcooks.com).. it was a riot and i think she will ejoy it...

Brenda you seem to post about that cookbook on every comment site. Give it a rest.
I dont tip anyone but wait staff. My hairdresser makes 12.00 and hour plus whatever tips. My mail man makes 22.00 an hour (i do give him a jumbo candy bar in his fav kind) I do not tip the lady who keeps my nails pretty as she makes 10.00 an hour. Where do we stop tipping well paid employees? How much should I tip the fireman who came and put out a fire in my barn? It cost me 12,625.00 on top of what taxes I paid in. 10% lets see 1,265.00 for the fireman....the police officer who gave me a ticket but ultimately saved my life because going three miles over speed limit as he put it "I put myself in harms way and in great peril" The list goes on. Wait staff are the only ones who deserve to be tipped. and that is a great joke because the restaurant/bar owner is using the waitstaffs tips to help pay his employees wages. waitstaff should be paid minimum wage and their tips are just that, theirs.
