Giant Rabbits
In February 2006, Karl Szmolinsky won a prize for breeding Germany's largest rabbit -- a Gray Giant named Robert -- which weighed a whopping 23 pounds! But don't get too attached; Szmolinsky breeds these fuzzy beasts for meat. Each giant rabbit produces over 15 pounds of protein.
Another view of Robert. After these pictures made the rounds online, Szmolinsky was approached by the North Korean embassy, which saw these humongous hares as a potential solution to their nation's impoverishment. Szmolinsky sold some of his best stock -- Robert included -- and now travels to North Korea to help energize the farm.
Hans plays proud "dad" to this German Giant named Herman. This 22 pound bunny become such a phenomenon, that he even started his own MySpace page where he takes a dig at rival breeder Szmolinsky: "To all you overly concerned german giant bunny rabbit lovers out there -- please don't worry, I, Herman, will NOT be sent to North Korea to feed a family of 35."
This German Giant is nearly half the size of his teenage owner!
A little bitty bundle of a big giant bunny.
This German Giant is big enough to usurp a little boy's chair!
He's not fat -- there's just more to love!
