Like any other self-respecting Halloween fan, I took the video's title as a challenge: "Best Halloween Costume Ever." I thought: "We'll just see about that." Then, I watched the first few seconds of a dude wearing a Transformers costume in front of the dealership and thought: "Way to blow a bunch of auto bailout money on a useless costume, guys. Woo hoo!" (Heavy sarcasm implied.)
Then it happened. He started transforming into a really convincing-looking Camaro ... and my jaw hit the floor. Usually, I like to value creativity and ingenuity over big budgets and special effects, but this is one of the rare times where I can't help but agree: That's the best costume I've ever seen.
The fact that it looks so real when transformed is what really does it for me, since I do happen to like the new Camaro. Think of the amazing potential for freaking people out. Imagine a herd of trick-or-treaters walking up on your lawn, gawking over your miniature Camaro. Then all of the sudden, you transform and scare the crap out of them! Classic.
It might get a little cramped in there, but that's the price of a really good prank. Maybe you could do some yoga before you get in costume. That might help.
Here's a video of a low-tech version made out of cardboard. Props to the cardboard engineer.
