Garlands are all the rage amidst the design blogosphere, and I'm loving the trend. Why not involve your kiddies and make a festive banner for your Thanksgiving guests?

Give Thanks Banner Materials:

  • Dry beans, cinnamon sticks, twigs, and pinecones
  • 8 1/2 x 11 inch colored art paper
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • Tape
  • Raffia, yarn, or ribbon (to hang the garland).

The tutorial is simple enough and there's plenty of room for the imagination. Plus, you'll get a chance to use those red beans that have been sitting in your pantry since you moved in. Bonus? Your child will get a lesson in spelling. Just be sure your family's prankster doesn't feel particularly inspired for a practical joke, because something tells me Granny won't appreciate a 'Give Spanks' banner!
