Attention Walmart shoppers! Turkey prices are coming down!
If you are worried about stretching your budget to cover holiday expenses this year, you will be pleased to know that Walmart has got your back. Starting today (Nov. 5, 2009), U.S. Walmart stores will be selling whole, 12-pound turkeys for 40 cents a pound. According to a price survey by American Farm Bureau Federation, that's one-third of the average price of turkeys last year.
$4.80 for a turkey is certainly something to be thankful for.
Not only is Walmart slashing turkey prices, they are cutting the cost of the entire Thanksgiving meal. With reduced prices on canned vegetables, cranberry sauce, stuffing, red potatoes, dinner rolls and a pumpkin roll cake, you can serve eight people for about $20.
When the meal is over and it's time for some football, Walmart hopes you will come back for your television needs as well. They've dropped the price of a 42-inch Sharp flat-panel TV to $498. That's almost $300 off the regular price. Go bigger and save even more with a 46-inch model marked down from $1,158 to $698. These prices go into effect on November 7.
If the items on your own personal wish-list haven't been marked down at Walmart, be patient. In order to draw in cash-strapped consumers, the retail giant plans to continue cutting prices weekly through the holiday season.

Walmart might have cheap prices but I spent 1 hr trying order on line a 47 in tv.
Its the worst shopping online site I have ever seen...
They need to take a look at their poor handling of merchandise....

These prices are not for any of the Wal-Marts in Oklahoma! Tried at local Wal-Mart today and manager stated that they were not allowed to sell at this price due to the state law of not selling any thing less than cost! Stinks!

The price sounds great, but does anyone know what is ADDED to those turkeys? Is it injected with a "solution", or "broth"? Do you know what is IN the solution or broth? Is it healthy for you? Bet you never thought of that before! I prefer my turkey WITHOUT chemicals like MSG, thank you. I will look in Walmart next time I go, but I will NOT pay good money for some mystery "solution"!
As for you, madpony--you're made of meat, too. Does that mean we can eat you?

Why the H### would you buy meat with tape on the box, and a warning about being "defective", for pete's sake! You have no one but yourself to blame for that one, even if the store was crazy for putting it back on the shelf. Geez.

If anyone paid $1.20 per pound for a turkey last year they were ripped off. The price of turkeys in Arizona got down below 40 cents before Thanksgiving. There are already chains with a price of 37 cents. I predict the price to bottom out around 29 cents per pound. Walmart is not the only place for bargains.

You people are sick! Vegan IS the way to go. To the woman slaughtering black crows and Pigeons in her backyard and claiming they are turkeys, go get help. Walmart is selling mechanicalized turkeys and YOU people are willing to eat it. Well EAT this also, Walmart using mind control perservatives in their foods and from the looks of it on this site it's working.

I hope these aren't turkeys from China. Or just as bad, turkeys killed here, shipped to China for processing then shipped back to the USA.

Thats what we all need to do , keep shopping at Wal-Mart and when they get control of every item, appiances, food, tires etc. You'll have to shop at Wal-Mart for everything at their price or starve. Go wal-Mart keep RED CHINA'S economy going as ours disappears. You guys or gals probably put the OBAMINATION in the Black House to, no pun intinded.

Brad, Walmart is not the only store that sells items made in China. Most do.
However, that does not mean we need to buy those items. I went shopping at Walmart last week, and looked at every item I purchased to see where it was made. With the exception of two small items, everything I bought was made in the USA. It made me quite happy to know I was buying American too!:-)

12 pound turkeys are nothing but bones. Best to get 16 - 20 pounds.

Ok, ok, settle down here everyone. I went to purchase one of these turkeys at a Walmart Supercenter in Purcell, OK. No sale there. According to them, OK cannot sell them because they are under priced. The ad states in U.S. stores, so evidently OK is not in the U.S. Made the trip for nothing!

We were SO excited to see the stories being spread all over about how WalMart's making the holidays cheaper for everyone........until we realized that, RIGHT HERE IN WalMart's OWN BACKYARD, these great deals are NOT available. With two stores in Fayetteville, and one in Springdale, and my hubby putting in calls to all THREE stores, he's been told by ALL THREE stores that "We don't have any of those turkeys. Warehouse is out, doubt we get them......but we have Butterball turkeys for only 99 cents a pound." Well, Walmart certainly isn't getting our holiday business this year!!! Thank you, IGA, for having in stock what you advertised!"

Any of you rabid meat eaters ever visit a turkey farm?
Unspeakably inhumane and heartbreaking.

Just a thought> If these turkeys are so cheap, where did they come from? We all know that walleyworld ain't doin this because they care about anyone but the Walton family, how about giving your employees something to really be thankful for this season, like fulltime or insurance or sick leave. Now that would be something to be thankful for. But as everyone rushes to patronize these guys and talk about how great walmart is by giving us such a great deal on turkeys, look at what they have done and are continuing to do to our country. Sam Walton must be rolling in his grave. And yes Diana,.... I will be serving turkey this thanksgiving, but it sure won't be supporting Walmart.
