You know that bored feeling you get after dinner, when you've eaten as much pie as possible, napped twice and the dishes are all done? When there's nothing to do but watch old movies and recheck your shopping list for Black Friday?
Now, thanks to Walmart, you can get up off the couch and be ready for Christmas before Thanksgiving is even officially over. In a move to avert the unruly crush of shoppers that marred past Black Fridays, the retail giant is keeping their doors open around the clock at most of their stores from November 26 to November 27.
Traditionally on Black Friday, shoppers will line up hours in advance of early morning store openings, often creating a mob scene when the doors finally allow them inside. Each year seems to bring new stories of crowd mayhem, including a Walmart worker who was trampled by shoppers last Christmas.
This year, with the tough economy and tight budgets, analysts are expecting even bigger crowds searching for holiday sales and deep discounts. Walmart, taking a pragmatic approach, is simply letting bargain hunters come in and start shopping as early as they want. Another step they're taking to manage the anticipated crowd is to spread deals all over the store.
One thing to keep in mind, though, is this: Even though you can enter the store and line up for big-ticket items early, the actual sales don't begin until 5 a.m. Friday. So, if you're going Thursday night and plan to hang around for the sales, you might want to pack yourself a turkey sandwich!
Are you going to be a 3 a.m. Walmart shopper? Or will you stick with the DVD and third slice of pie plan?

Wall mart is a cancer to america. I will never set foot in this place. all they sell is cheap garbage that will break and need to be replaced soon after you buy it. Yo all you people working at wall mart on thanksgiving for less than 10 an hour... You need to see what went horribly wrong with your life.

I don't understand the whole Black Friday thing???? Whatever happened to families spending time with their families on holidays???? Enough is enough. What's wrong with shopping on regular shopping days? Used to be retailers were closed on Sundays. I don't know a person who needs anything bad enough to go through this type of craziness to get an okay deal. I suggest everyone spends Thanksgiving with their families and buy American Made products when they do their shopping.

Why not just blow the doors off every other store and start the sale a week earlier? Having more of the "deal" items available would also be better. Example, our local WalMart had a BF deal on a laptop. Had 200 people lined up to get them and they only had 3 allocated and available for the store!!!! At least I was #3 in line !!!!!!! There were people who travelled several hours on black ice roads to stand in that line and were only disappointed to find out there were only 3 laptops available. Again, start earlier and have more available and the people will come.

I will make sure that I let people what you are doing. Trust me the more people know, the more disgusted they will get with your greedy ass!!

I hope everyone outraged that Walmart is open on Thanksgiving never shops at any store open on any holiday. The only reason these places are open is that there is a demand for it. I work in retail and it never ceases to amaze me when people tell me it sucks that I have to be working the holiday. Well, I wouldn't have to if people like them didn't shop on the holiday. If you've ever shopped anywhere on any holiday, don't complain about Walmart or anyone else being open on Thanksgiving.

Having emergency services and hospitals open is a whole different thing than "SHOPPING" on Thanksgiving evening and the Black Friday craziness. And.... you get your pop, your gasoline, and everything you need for Thanksgiving before hand and if you run out you just run out.... I'm telling you if things don't change in this country WE ALL are going to see what running out REALLY means. Get back to the basics America!!!!!!!

Walmart, It's a sad day in America when the IDIOTS that run Walmart, think it's okay to be open on Thanksgiving. It shows how greedy walmart is. They do not give a damn hoot about their workers. How dare you open on Thanksgiving!! Shame on you FOOLS, TRUST ME i WILL MAKE SURE THAT i SPREAD THE WORD ON WHAT YOU ARE DOING. That is so disrespectful to the workers and to the holiday itself. I hpoe your workers would stay home on that day, and see what would happen.

The sales don't start until 5am and there will be employees standing around all the big sale items making people form uniform lines and trying their best to keep the peace between all you crazy @$$ people that think you need to be there all night to save a couple bucks. If so many people hate Wal-Mart, then why do we have such great weekly sales? I'm a regular part time employee that gets a quarterly bonus every time you people come and spend your money. We do get holiday pay and insurance after a 90 day period. We don't really get treated like crap and we DON'T get denied our 2 paid fifteen minute breaks and hour lunches. I worked at McDonalds for many years and found that I get treated like a QUEEN at Wal-Mart compared to McD's. Opinions are like @$$holes and everyone seems to have one. SOMEONE HAS to be open on thanksgiving when you people need something. I mean think about it......can you imagine a day with NOTHING at your disposal, no gas , no place to stay if your traveling, no food if you aren't eating turkey, no spur of the moment ingredients for a prized recipe your making? Let's be realistic....we only should be closed for Christmas like we are and that's good enough for me because truth be told, I really like my holiday pay!

LoL they should let those people that work there go be with their family. Besides the TV that was sold at best buy last black friday that people waited in line all night for my sister got online at 4am in the morning ordered it for the exact same price got free delivery and a cheaper sales tax cause they go by your zip code and she didnt have to get out of her PJ lmao i love it all the people that waited online for that deal and all they had to do was get online. But you did have to have them deliver it but that was free so no loss. lol

People need to get over it. Its retail and its called holiday, walmart is not the only store that will be open kmart has always been open on thanksgiving. And for the people ranting and raving about managers not working thats bs. When i was a manager at kmart we all worked and my brother is a walmart manager who will be working as well. Well i do not work at a "big box store" anymore i am still a retail manager and in las vegas. This is the first year i will be running a store in a local mall that is not open, previously I ran stores on the strip that were open all day long 9am till 11pm or midnight depending on the day and i worked the holidays just like every other manager under me as well as our sales associates. People are always quick to say oh poor things that your open but your out shopping, so really you obviously wanted us to be open. Everyone who chooses to work retail or any sort of hospitality job knows the requirements going in we are there to serve you not the other way around this goes for hotels, drs, nurses, law and firefighters as well, we are there to serve you all, so stop making it seem like a cardinal sin that were open. If everything shut down for two holidays things would go crazy and were would everyone go to eat their duck dinner while asian men sing fah ra ra to you?

Do I agree with all Walmat's policies and practices..no. ..but you people need to get a clue. My husband is not in retail but has worked every holiday for the past six years..keeping the cons in the pen. It is a part of life~ Walmart is trying to develop a strategy to avoid the mass chaos that led to the tragic death last year. People work in stores, gas stations, hospitals, and many other places on a holiday...so families learn to adapt. Does it really matter if you choose to celebrate Thanksgiving or Christmas the day before, the week before, on the weekend? I think not! It's about the spirit of the holiday not the actual day of it! You people complaining better not ever stop at a gas station on Thanksgiving or Christmas...because you are making that employee work on their holiday. C'mon people....give me a break!

It's not just corporate greed that is causing this.....it is CONSUMER greed!! If customers didn;t have this burning need to be out on holidays getting all these things that they "can't live without", then retail stores COULD be closed on holidays, allowing workers to enjoy time with family and friends! I will say that at least Walmart has a huge spread of food for it's employees to enjoy on their break/lunch.......unlike the retail store I work at this gives us nothing!!!!!!!!!!!!!
