Why on earth do you people react before you know what's going on? The chosen tree is a Douglas Fir; is from West Virginia (not Arizona); was selected because the growers won a contest (having nothing to do with the President and/or his family). The growers have provided trees for three previous Presidential christmases. The Douglas Fir is a fantastic Christmas tree. It's beautifully shaped, a lovely dark green, and has a delicious Christmasy aroma. And finally, maybe you good Christians should think less about spite and a little more about exactly why God sent his Christmas present to us.

The fact that you all are sitting here discussing this "rediculous subject" at all reflects what level Christmas has sunk to in this country. There are Christians that don't care who does what with their tree that is just a German custom (wonder if people during WWII stopped putting up trees because of the Germans?) handed down for generations. All of the holiday customs that you claim are so near and dear to you are just symbols that truly have nothing to do with the birth of Christ. Did you ever give a thought to what other religions in this country other than Muslims think about our overdone rediculous December holiday?How people can devote one fourth of the year to an eight hour day and most of them not even go to church has baffled me since childhood. I learned fifty yrs. ago while going to college in a large city away from my small home town to say Happy Holidays in December, not to be politically correct we didn't know about that in "those days", ,but to be polite and not offend anyone. I was raised Christian and it didn't bother me then to say HH fifty yrs. ago and it still doesn't !

I really feel sorry for people like you. What do you get out of life if you do not believe in anything? IF you had been raised as a Christian, you would understand why we celebrate Christmas. As long as there is a Dec. 25th, it will be to ALL OF US CHRISTMAS AND WE WILL CELEBRATE IT. Regardless of what you or anyone says. Maybe you belong to the ACLU? In the United States, as of this date, we have a right to celebrate what we want, speak what we want and do what we want. I cannot believe you people. After 8 horrible years with Bush, one would think you would be happy to have someone with intelligence in the White House. So what if he is a Muslim? That means nothing. It doesn't surprise me at all that Obama wants to take the Christ out of Christmas and just make it a holiday. What does he think the holiday is all about anyway. It is Christ's birthday. To me it always has been and always will be Christmas. I am not ashamed to be a Christian and will always celebrate my Lord and Saviior. I''e never cared much for Obama and now I care for him even less. I didn't vote for him and if he runs for re election I won't vote for him again.
