You can track Santa's movements right from your car this year thanks to OnStar. Credit: Arwen Abendstern, Flickr
Oh wait, we don't have to! The NORAD Santa Tracker is going mobile this year. So while you're mumbling curse words at the dashboard driving over the river and through the woods, you can keep track of the fat man in the red suit with your OnStar subscription.
Or, as CNet put it, you can stalk Santa from your car.
The feds have been keeping tabs on Santa's whereabouts for more than 50 years, and these days kids can watch his movements in 3D with the help of Google Earth. They have to wait until the 24th, but a virtual advent calendar on the NORAD site lets them check out Santa's village for activity every day through Christmas Eve and NORAD's Facebook page and Twitter keep them up to date in real time.
And after all that build up, you think you can just throw the kids in the car on the big night and they'll sleep through your cursing the driver in front of you? Just turn the OnStar up really loud -- the Santa updates will keep them distracted.

Why in the hell would ON STAR get in on such a tradition??? what aren't they makin enuff monies off the consumer ? what a joke!!! All ther doin is taking away the mystery and the beleiving of a young child!!! Many of these children have nothing to believe in and NOW "ON STAR" is right in your back seat....You SOB"S have to ruin everything.....Did you as an child have ON STAR? why would you want to take all the magic outta ones Christmas?????? Just think about that one for a second since your brains can't think anymore ahead of that!!!!!!!

There are so many children who CANT believe in santa because of how technology is. The fact that technology tracks where 'santa' is proof enough for kids that he ACTUALLY exists. On Star is supporting that 'fact'. Kids are getting smarter with the internet, tv, and everything, theres bound to be things thatll help young kids figure out he doesnt exist. On Star is just trying to show he does. Alot of kids, once they start school, stop believing;some even before that.

Barbara, you are a Scrooge!! Whatever it takes these days to keep young children believing in Santa is a very good thing! With all the technology today it is absolutely a reinforcement to young children that Santa exists. Your the "SOB" for being a Scrooge! It is up to the parent(s) of the child to use *OnStar or NORAD or any other type of "technology" to keep the dream alive for the kids. OH and by the way...NORAD has been tracking Santa since 1955.........stick that in your "Bah Humbug" for technology thinking!! One more thing...I hope you and yours have a very Merry Christmas and that "Santa" is good to you this year despite your negative opinion on this Christmas Eve. I also hope that Santa brings you a spelling & grammer book!

irony can be pretty ironic sometimes.

Surely this is a joke? Aren't there better things for companies to waste their time and money on? Or does world hunger, pollution, genocide, hatred, and lack of human rights not exist?

Yes, let's lie to children. They are sheep, let technology be their shepard.

THIS IS FOR SMALL CHILDREN WHO STILL BELIEVE AND NOT GROWN-UPS. MAY EACH WHO BELIEVES HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY , AS FOR ME I SPEND IT REMEMBERING MY MOTHER SINCE IT IS HER BIRTHDAY ALSO. WE HAVE NOT CHILDREN AND SO IT IS A DAY TO REMEMBER THE PEOPLE WE ARE ABOUT TO LOSE, OR HAVE LOST. IT IS ABOUT CARING FOR OTHERS AND MAKING WISHS AND MAKING THEM COME ALIVE.
