The holidays are a great time to whip up a batch of M&M cookies. If you are pressed for time, you can make M&M cookies by simply stirring plain M&Ms into a pre-packaged cookie mix. There's nothing wrong with that, but if you really want to make an occasion out of it, get the kids in the kitchen to help you make some of these delicious homemade M&M Cookies.

1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp each salt and baking soda
1 cup mini baking M&M's
13/4 cups old-fashioned oatmeal
1/4 cup each packed dark-brown sugar and granulated sugar
1 cup peanut butter chips
1/2 sticks (3/4 cup) butter, softened
2 large eggs, beaten
1 tsp vanilla extract

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine flour, salt, baking soda, M&M's, oatmeal, sugars and peanut butter chips. Mix well. Work in softened butter with a rubber spatula. Add eggs and vanilla; stir until well blended. Drop heaping tablespoons of dough 2 inches apart on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake 12 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on baking sheet on a wire rack 2 minutes before removing to rack to cool completely.
