You've got the chili, nachos, wings and beer, but what do to take your 2010 Super Bowl party to the next level? Organize some Super Bowl party games to pass the times between the Super Bowl halftime show with The Who and the big-budget commercials. After all, not everyone who comes to your Super Bowl party is going to be a die-hard football fan, so here are some Super Bowl party games to keep guests of the adult and kid variety entertained during the first, second and third downs:
Super Bowl Party Drinking Games
Drink to the Commentator: Write down a bunch of football plays that a commentator might say and put them into a bag. At the start of the game, have each person pick one and every time a commentator says a term, that person has to drink.
Pick a Player: Everyone picks a key player on either team, not counting the quarterbacks, and every time your player is involved in a play, you can choose who takes a drink. If your player makes a touchdown, everyone else besides you has to finish their drinks.
The Legendary Super Bowl Drinking Game: Blogger On Deaf Ears created an extensive Super Bowl drinking game in which each person chooses their favorite team and then drinks when their team has a setback. Check out the specific plays and amounts to drink, and like it says, you are welcome to use non-alcoholic beverages and if you choose beer or liquor, don't drive afterward.
Super Bowl Party Non-Drinking Games
Super Bowl Pool: Draw a 10x10 grid, label the top with one team and one side with the other. Then each guest claims or "buys" a square until they are all taken. At the end, take the last number of each team's final score and find the intersecting square. For example, if the score is 12 for the top team and 9 for the side team, count over 2 and down 9. Whose ever square that is wins the pot.
Super Bowl Charades: Separate the group into teams and have each person write down some recognizable football terms and names for the opposite team, like "referee," "Miami Dolphins" and "Super Bowl ring." Separate the group into teams and during time-outs, one person acts out their charade and their team has to guess it.
Pass the Cup: This popular Super Bowl party game is pretty simple. One person starts by putting a dollar into a cup and naming a play, like touchdown or field goal. For every play that is not that one, each person puts in a dollar and passes the cup. When the play finally occurs, the person holding the cup wins the pot. Super Bowl Party Games for Kids
Hot Potato: Gather in a circle and use a football to play a classic game of hot potato.
Cheerleader Squads: Get the kids to make up and perform their own cheers during a little "half-time show" of their own. This is especially good for those parents who are wary of having their children watch the 2010 Super Bowl half-time show.
