Fairies have been a part of folklore for centuries. They create a magical escape into a world that only our imaginations can take us to! When planning a birthday party, creating an enchanting fairy experience is easy and fun for girls of all ages. All you need is some fairy dust and a little bit of imagination.

Set the Stage
Weather permitting, an outdoor fairy birthday party is fun and festive. Decorate with flowers and "fairy dust" (confetti or glitter), and provide each fairy with her own wings. A bubble machine is also a nice touch and can be a part of the "fun" of the day. Little girls in fairy wings chasing bubbles across the lawn is a memory every parent will savor. Serve your snacks picnic-style or at a festive fairy table. If your little fairy loves Tinkerbell, Disney has recently expanded their "fairy" products to include party supplies and costumes.

Magical Cakes
For your fairy birthday party, serve up a little magic with a rainbow cake. The cake looks like an average cake on the outside, but once you cut it, the bright colored layers are a surprise to everyone. Before you cut the cake, sprinkle it with edible fairy dust in the colors of the rainbow, wave your fairy wand and poof! Announce to the party guests that your plain vanilla cake has turned into a colorful creation right before their eyes.

Crafts
A fairy wand is a must for any little girl's birthday. Let your fairy party guests create their own: A short piece of dowel can be painted or covered in glitter. A glittery star or bright felt heart makes a perfect topper. Tie a few pieces of curing ribbon around the want to finish and let the magic begin!

Slightly older fairies will enjoy creating their own glitter lotion: Take a regular bottle of lotion (look for something that smells kid-friendly) and mix it with cosmetic glitter. Give each child a bowl, plastic spoon and a dollop of lotion . Provide a small cup of the glitter or let them choose from several colors. Show them how to pour the glitter into the lotion and mix it all together. Once the glitter is mixed in, provide a small plastic bottle or container for their lotion. Your fairy guests will go crazy for this personalized activity. It also works well with gel lotions and liquid soap if you want an alternative to making lotion.

Games and Fun
Your fairy birthday party guests will love any opportunity to run about in their fairy wings; let them blow bubbles, have a fairy parade or play a game of "Find the Fairy." And don't forget that simple games such as hide and seek, freeze dance and Marco Polo become more magical when you are dressed as a fairy.

Your little fairy -- and her guests -- will love this magical experience and use the fairy wings and wand long after the birthday is over. Pretending to be a fairy is a timely adventure of little girls across the globe. Enjoy the opportunity to create magic and wonder in the eyes of the birthday girl and all of her little fairy friends.
