The LAST thing kids need is a whole basket of candy. Healthier choices: try a gift card for a toy store or a movie theater, colored pencils or colored chalk, bubbles, a kite or a jump rope, microwaveable popcorn, a coloring book, an inexpensive card game, a book or a dvd. One or two thoughtful items that are "keepers" are more meaningful than gobs of candy that will be gone in a day or two, anyway. Most of our kids are overweight...they don't need adults encouraging poor eating habits.

I agree! I got my nieces and nephew 1 bag of small chocolate eggs (to be split 3 ways)....coloring books, sponge bob mini lap trays, bubbles, water guns, sidewalk chalk, 100% fruit snacks, hot wheels etc. It's much better for them...considering we will already be having a big meal for Easter Sunday.

i so agree. since my son was 2 i have always made his easter baskets. filling it w/a toy he's been wanting little favors a few pieces of candy and one small chocolate bunny. he is now 12 and he still gets the basket, only now its in a re-usable container filled w/ the chocolate easter bunny a gift card,t-shirt or something else appropriate for his age..i'ts fun for him to still get excited to see whats in his basket this year. my 3 year old gets the same. only of course w/girl and age appropriate items that she need or enjoys.

I get my grandkids toys, clothing, games and one very small chocolate Easter Bunny and one package of Peeps (which I can't stand) and that makes them very happy. No sugar overload

I just put together 3 baskets: one for my 23 yr. old son, one for his fiance (as of a week ago), and one for his new puppy. Shopping for it was so much fun especially now that I have a "daughter" to shop for. I got him protein bars from GNC, beef jerky, and sugarless gum. For her I bought a pick and white shower wrap, pink flip-flops, pink shaving cream, pink razor, and a pink bottle of moisturizing cream. The puppy gets lots of chews and treats. Good stuff, but no one gets fat!!!

What happened to kids getting an Easter basket from the" Easter Bunny". Now they get baskets from grandparents, teachers, church etc.. No wonder kids don't appreciate anything. Happy Easter!

i agree somewhat, however, my son is now 12 years old and my daughter is 3. my son LEARNED who the easter bunny really is... he doesn't spoil it for his sister. but nonetheless she too will LEARN who the real easter bunny is. so regardless yes i do still make them their baskets as well as the one i make for my mom every year.once again, w/ AGE appropriate items. it's nice and i enjoy it. oh yes and for me... my son looks forward to his easter baskets, knowing that it is something that he needs to maintain his grades and have something to look forward to and yes i have had to NOT get him one.so basically.... to each his own...i still love it regardless and they do too!

NERDY PARENTS? U CAN CALL IT WHAT YOU WANT. BUT....I'M SURE THAT YOUR PARENTS DID A FEW "NERDY " THINGS AS WELL... HOW ELSE CAN ONE RAISE THEIR KIDS W/OUT THE NERDY PHASE? WHO KNOWS RIGHT....ON THE OTHER HAND... YOU MAY CALL IT "NERDY" BUT OUR AND MANY OTHER "GET TOGETHERS" ARE WHAT OUR KIDS GROW ON AND LOOK FORWARD TO... IT'S ALL ABOUT FAMILY... U KNOW? AND I AM TRULY GREATFUL FOR THE FAMILY THAT I HAVE "NERDY OR NOT" U KNOW WHAT??? IT'S MY/OUR FAMILY AND WE ARE CONTENT W/WHAT WE HAVE.... SO YES MAYBE IT IS NERDY... BUT U KNOW... IT MUST NO BE THAT NERDY IF THE PARTICIPATING ARE WILLING!!! I WISH YOU THE BEST AND HAPPY EASTER.... I HOPE YOU HAVE A NICE "NOT NERDY" EASTER BASKET WAITING FOR YOU...

My favorite basket fillers are egg toys- SILLY PUTTY for example. There are animals and dinosaurs that "hatch" out of eggs, eggs that transform into something else, egg puzzles, percussion eggs... and you can stuff your plastic Easter eggs with coins, jewelry, marbles, bouncy balls and all sorts of other mini toys. There's plenty of Eastery extras you can add to a basket that are sugar free. (I don't skip on the chocolate though!)

OK, so i didn't just mean candy. They have those baskets that have basketballs and other sports things. I just think almost anything is better than a candle shaped like a rabbit or a knitted egg. The bag for a little girl is kinda cute, but kinda expensive, but nice try.
