From giant steam engines to Thomas the Train, without a doubt kids love trains. Train parties can feature beloved train characters or railways classics
.

Ticket Please!
Let guests know all about your celebration by having your own train tickets to hand out as invitations. These tickets will definitely be a unique way to get the kids excited for the celebration. They are also easy to mail to out-of-town guests.

All Aboard!
TrainParty.com has everything you can think of to create your train inspired vision. They feature party ware that include Amtrak trains, steam trains and of course Thomas the Train. Don't forget fun items such as railroad crossing signs, train whistles and red bandannas for guests. Typical train party colors are red and blue, but with so many choices, it's easy to mix and match many colors and train types to cover all your bases. Welcome your guests with their own engineer's cap to get them in the mood, and don't forget to purchase an engineer's outfit for the birthday boy or girl.

Celebration Express

Since your guests are on the younger side, it is best to keep games easy, fun and non competitive. Think of fun games kids are familiar with and give them a train theme. Follow the conductor (leader) will be a hit with a younger group of children. Give them train whistles to blow as they follow the conductor and march around. You can purchase a conductor's hat and have kids take turns being the leader. After the games are over, have a group story time and read a few classic train stories, like The Little Engine that Could.

Party Eats and Treats

Keep the food simple with "railroad dogs" (hot dogs), "train fuel" (purple punch) and chips. This will save lots of room for a slice of yummy train cake and some ice cream. Train cakes are easy to make and are always a big hit; your options include the edible 3D train cake as well as a more conventional train cake.

Goodies Galore
You can really go crazy with all of the train-themed goodie bag stuffers that are out there. Think about a small board book for each guest about trains or a train cup to send home as a thank you for attending the party instead of the traditional goodie bag. Or send each child home with a new train! Remember, though, that young kids need goodies free of small parts.

With so many options you can't go wrong with a railway adventure for your child's birthday celebrations.
