Are you left uninspired by plain green and red paper or conventional curly ribbon? These crafty wrapping ideas will have you thinking outside of the gift box this holiday season.
These paper snowflakes will not only add texture to your wrapping, they can act as confetti, making the unwrapping an even more magical experience! Create the look by using a snowflake shaped craft punch to create the confetti. Then, wrap the gift box in one layer of tissue paper, lay the shapes out and tape then in place. Last, wrap another piece of tissue paper around the box. For a fun accent, use another snowflake for a matching gift card.

You probably have dozens of store-bought bows in your Christmas storage bins. Don't be stingy this year. Instead of using one bow, go crazy adorning gifts with multiple bows in barnacle-like clusters.
White butcher paper provides an inspiring clean slate for this project. In a well-ventilated area, lay down the paper and spread circular objects or branches on top. Spray painting over the items leaves an original pattern for a one-of-a-kind wrapping paper to use on all your gifts.
Break out your fabric scraps to create this festive pompom topper in just five simple steps.
1. To make one 5-inch pompom, gather skinny strips of fabric that are about 18-inches long. Place one strip aside.
2. Pinch the end of one fabric strip between your thumb and index finger, then wrap the strip loosely around the palm of your hand. Continue wrapping all the strips around your palm this way.
3. Slide the fabric off your hand, then use the reserved strip to tie a knot in the middle of your looped strips.
4. Using sharp scissors, cut the two loops that have formed down the middle. Fluff the ends and trim pieces that are too long.
5. Use hot glue to affix a small square of card stock on the bottom of the pompom so there is a flat surface to tape onto your gift box.
Some gifts (a new puppy, a flat screen or a leather couch) are simply too large for a proper wrapping. A ball of yarn can lead your recipient along a pathway to the big surprise. Cut out an arrow and tie it on the end of the yarn, pointing in the path's direction. Instruct your loved one to follow the yarn to their hidden gift.
If you have tons to wrap this year, expensive rolls of paper can be just another burden on your holiday budget. Hit up an office supply store for cheaper paper (like plain craft paper) and gift tags. A date stamp is a classy way to dress up plain paper, not to mention a reusable device for your home office.
