ABC's "The Bachelorette" is a Halloween costume extravaganza in the making.
The hit show "The Bachelorette" is the inspiration for this funny group costume featuring "America's Sweetheart" Ali Fedotowsky and her gaggle of suitors. This will work best with at least five or six people, and as many as 26. Pick one bachelorette; everyone else will dress as vying bachelors. Gender bend when possible!
What you'll need:
- Wigs
- Formal-ish thrift store clothes
- Paper and felt-tip pen
- Big fake roses
- Giant novelty diamond ring
Hair
To dress up as bachelorette Ali, a long blond Barbie Doll wig can be found inexpensively at most costume shops. Bachelors should have short, conservative hairstyles: gel the hair into a severe side part style, or don a men's wig. Look for newscaster-type wigs, but any shorthaired wig will do.
Clothes
For the bachelorette, look for a formal-style dress at a thrift store; a cheap wedding dress would be ideal. Make a paper "Bachelorette" sash to wear over the dress (simply staple two long, narrow strips of paper together at the ends)--this is a Halloween costume, you're not going for subtlety. For the bachelors, black or dark suits, white shirts, and ties.
Props
You'll need roses, of course. Big, gaudy, fake roses are best. Make them from tissue paper or buy novelty flowers. Of course, be sure that there are not enough roses for all of the bachelors. Have the bachelorette carry the giant bouquet, or give one to all of the bachelors but two and have the bachelorette draw out the drama with the last one. A giant novelty diamond ring makes another good prop--if it does something extra tacky like light up, even better.
