Live blog:
4:00 Welcome to Holidash's live blog of Oprah's last Favorite Things episode!
4:01 The audience at this show thought they missed being at the Favorite Things show. Imagine how you would have felt!
4:02 At least one lady was honest. I would have been mad too!
4:03 That's my favorite moment. When the audience goes CRAZY! Tears, screams and hugs. Yup, that's about right.
4:04 Oprah's "number one favorite thing ever?" An iPad. Coming from the ceiling on wings. Can't make this stuff up!
4:06 She loves Scrabble. Who knew?
4:07 Next up, sparkly metallic Uggs. WANT!
4:08 A beautiful Coach Sophia satchel worth $398 -- she calls it the "it bag" of the season, and I agree!
4:10 First commercial break. Seriously, I didn't think she could top the last episode. Lesson learned. Never doubt Oprah's "wow" factor.
4:13 And we're back. With a special appearance by Gayle! And Stedman! In 25 years he's only been to three shows -- he must be happy to be at this one!
4:14 Yowza! A Magaschoni silk and cashmere tunic. Plus silk and cashmere leggings. These people are leaving with a full outfit!
4:15 I was waiting for her to bring out the Philosophy products. She always talks about "Hope in a Jar!" And the box has a super cute picture of Oprah as a kid -- too precious!
4:16 She's busting out bras. Nordstrom is giving everyone a $500 gift certificate for "a lingerie splurge!" Happy holidays indeed! And you can bring a friend and they get their own $500!
4:18 Another commercial. Coming up is Oprah's favorite gadget ... what's better than an iPad?
4:21 I have the Herb Saver by Prepara and Oprah is right. It is awesome.
4:22 Food! Oprah and Gayle were in "love at first bite" with this chicken pie, available at Harry & David.
4:24 More food! Garrett's popcorn in a tin. We were just talking about that stuff in the office the other day!
4:25 Le Creuset cast iron and stainless cookware. They're calling this collection the Oprah Set! And the audience gets to pick the color of their choice. Which is smart, because that red wouldn't go with my kitchen. Then again, I wasn't in the audience.
4:26 Oprah's promising "the biggest wow" for this audience. This time, I'm going to be a believer.
4:29 These are so not mom jeans. I wonder if they really do suck it all in.
4:30 The Sophie Jewelry box from Pottery Barn is presented by the Sugar Plum Fairy and the Nutcracker Prince. And there's some beautiful bling inside.
4:31 Jessica Lee diamond earrings worth over $1000 for everyone! Oprah is really bringing the sparkle!
4:32 A friend of mine who teaches loves DonorsChoose.org. Bing is providing the audience with $100 to spend on the site so they can give back.
4:34 I'm glad there are commercials. It gives the jealousy time to sink in.
4:37 Of course the audience is singing -- they just got diamond earrings!
4:38 Williams-Sonoma's flaky croissants and tea for everyone. This is about the time of the show when I get really hungry.
4:39 That woman in the audience made me laugh. She must really love tea.
4:40 Oprah's reading "The Book of Awakening" by Mark Nepo and she wants to share it with all of us. Tea, a pastry and a book. Well that sounds lovely, Oprah!
4:45 Here comes Johnny Mathis and he's going to sing with Josh Groban. It's beginning to sound a lot like Christmas!
4:46 By the way, does Oprah always have a gold microphone? I don't remember seeing that before.
4:50 Any guesses as to what the big favorite thing is going to be? She did say "fasten your seatbelts..."
4:51 Get ready for the Oprah fake out!
4:52 And it's a car! A 2012 VW Beetle to be exact! And the audience will be the first people to get them. That's really awesome!
4:55 But the weird part is, they don't get to see it. It won't be revealed until next year, so all they get to see is a silhouette.
4:56 But who cares, right? A free car is a free car.
4:57 "For me, it's about hope." Sure, Oprah. We all tuned in to see all the hope you are giving away.
4:58 That's a wrap! Thanks for joining us!
And don't forget to check out what Oprah gave her audience on Friday!
3:54PM We're getting ready to live blog Part 2 of Oprah's last Favorite Things episode!

Good for you Oprah ... Once again you've shown your fans how much you appreciate them. Unfortunately, for many of us the I-pad alone would cover our whole Christmas budget. Enjoy the holiday season & God Bless.

While you praise Oprah for her giving, consider this...Don't you realize the Sponsors paid/donated ALL the gifts. Betcha not ONE penny came from her personal pocket! BUT she gets all the glory.

WHY DOESN'T SHE DO SOMETHING FOR THE CHILDREN OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA INSTEAD OF POURING MONEY INTO AFRICA
Reply
mike,11-23-2010, 12:40PM
How about buying AMERICAN CARS to give away, this economy could use all the help it can get.
MeandonlyMe,11-22-2010, 8:54PM
@ Mary, Why don't "YOU" do something for the children of the United States, giving is not restricted to Oprah.

Cynthia,11-22-2010, 9:34PM
I agree with the others Mary. Why hate someone who is using her money...not your money or tax money to suuport children in African PLUS all the other things Oprah contributes to here in the US. What have you done in your own neighborhood?

I found it difficult to watch her Favorites show last week and didn't even turn on the one today. While she has worked hard for her money and gotten so grossly rich, and has every right to do whatever she wants to do on her show....it was sad to watch SO MUCH money being heaped upon so few people... And did you actually pay attention to the audience members? Some of the "rocks" on the women's hands and other indicators showed just how well-to-do a LOT of these people already were. Like one of the previous people said....the i-Pad alone would be too much for most of our budgets. I've learned to live a simple life without all the excess and that show was just disturbing. What if I was in the audience that day? Guaranteed I would not be screaming and crying and jumping and dancing around like they all were. I'd have been thinking about which one of my friends could use each thing when I got home...or how much I could sell the diamond watch for so I could pay for my heating bill this winter and keep my family warm even after we cover all the windows with plastic. We work full-time and skimp and save and never seem to get ahead. My 4 year old son broke his arm last winter and we are STILL paying off the bills. $40,000 for a broken arm! Even after insurance we still owed $4000. I'm happy that her show and all the sponsors made this handful of people happy. Now the sponsors can have their glory for a while and enjoy all the sales they will get just because Oprah said their product was one of her favorites.Maybe the sponsoring companies will in turn be able to hire a few people and they can be employed for a little while. I'm not complaining, I'm not jealous....just wish life was more fair and everyone could enjoy some of the nicer things in life.
Signed--heading back to work in the morning in my 10 year old car and coming home to my simple life.... Enjoy your gifts...way to go Oprah.

I have to agree, This is a very nice way to give back but there are alot of other people who could of benifited from that. I wish the network could of shared some of that with the people who watched or the people that live in the streets....

I wish Oprah would celebrate her birthday by inviting only guests who also were born on January 29th !!! I would be the first one on her list !!!! The guest list could include all ages(no Babies), races, sizes/shapes etc. etc. etc. What a season finale party that would be !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oprah is a very generous person. I gave Oprah a gift when she was in Philadelphia and was receiving the Marian Anderson Award, unfortunately I don't think she saw it. It was a one-of-a-kind silk shawl I had designed. I know she receives thousands of gifts I hope it's safe in her warehouse and someday she'll get a chance to at least see it.

I just graduated this past Saturday with a 3.6 GPA and being a single mother with no work yet, this Christmas will be very, very tight. Please help me so my son can have the Ipad. I think what Oprah does is a beautiful thing. I think she's showing God that she appreciates her blessings by being a blessing to others. I for one enjoy wittnessing a beautiful blessing...even if it's NOT the one with my name on it. She gets TWO THUMBS UP from me.
