Need an idea to make your mantle a little bit more merry this holiday season? Try this idea from our expert crafter Kendra Smoot in our how-to video.

Supplies

Foliage
Sisal Rope cut to your desired length
Floral Wire
Pruning Shears
Tape

Instructions:

1. If you're making a garland for a mantle, find the center of the rope and mark with tape, allowing you to apply the foliage from the outside in. If making for a banister, the garland will all go in the same direction.

2. Trim small leaves off the bottom of foliage to allow one inch of branch remaining. Create bunches of four branches.

3. Starting from the ends of the rope, wrap the floral wire around the rope three times, pulling tight. Then secure your bundle to the rope with the wire, again wrapping the wire three times. Continue along your rope with additional bundles, spacing them evenly apart.

4. To maintain the garland, spritz every day with water.
