Supplies:
Crayons
Silicone muffin pan.
Directions:
1. Remove paper from crayons.
2. Fill pan with crayons, sorted by color and broken into 1- to 2-inch chunks.
3. Bake in 200 degree oven for 10 minutes or until melted.
4. Let crayons cool for about 10 minutes and remove from tray.

What goes around, comes around. We did that years ago. Some shapes were mixed colors. That was when the school provided the crayons and we, being depression babies seldom threw anything away because everyone got one box of crayons, period. The leftovers from the previous year were reused by melting and molding.

yeah, and do you know when my kids were young,the crayon companies were selling these crayons like it was a new idea.These multi-color crayons.lol But, yes, I, too, bought them.No time as a single working mom for crafts,but now that I'll be having grandchildren one day,I'll keep this in mind.Thanks for reminding us,Kendra.

Please not everyone is in there 60s i was born in1954 and didnt know anything about this i was glad to see it and had lots of fun doing it with my grandchildern. so i think it was a great idea to put it on here

I may use your idea and use mini muffin pans for molds so they can make buttons to wear. I may use paint writers for material -- globby -- to allow kids to add something for themselves.
May use for Mother's Day gifts.
Suggestions for glue for adding pin backs?

Put the pin part in before the crayons harden when come out of oven.

I think it's great :) People have forgotten how to do things like this. we have become lazy and need a little reminder that everything does not have to be brand new, store bought and same same. especially younger ones

You can also melt the crayons and pour them into candy molds that you buy to get different shapes

They get to small to use after a while. Small children have less defined motor skills and need larger things to grasp.
